Health information is a guide to promoting health through Health education. Pharmacy is related with public health in so many ways and also share the same logo which is the “Bowl of Hygeia”.

Therefore, the pharmacist is responsible and part of the health care team for empowering the public health through health information. Hence, Health empowerment isĀ  a process by which people can gain greater control over the decisions affecting their lives and health through education and motivation.

Health empowerment can be an effective way to enhance health, health-related quality of life (HRQOL), health awareness and health-seeking behaviors of these people.

Health, according to the WHO definition is holistic and is not merely the absence of disease but a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being.

Therefore, Health information extends to Physical, social, geographical and all the factors that will affect the well-being of man. Healthy habits such as exercise, good foods, meditation, managing stress and work e.t.c. is encouraged while negative health habits such as indiscriminate drug use, smoking and sedentary life is discouraged.

In addition, a general or basic education in the rational use of drugs or medical devices falls under this category. But, always seek for an advice from your physician before considering putting any of these information in action.
